What is the vulva?

The vulva is the external genital region of the female genital area. The vulval conditions are inclusive of dermatitis, vulvodynia, lichen sclerosus and also vulval cancer. Vulvodynia is a kind of pain in the vulvar area.

The symptoms of vulval conditions include a burning feeling and a lot of itching and stinging. In many cases, the vulva appears swollen Vulval Cancerand red.

Vulval conditions lead to a lot of depression, sexual problems, anxiety and many other problems of the body. The recovery from such conditions takes around some weeks or months. The treatment generally aims to reduce the anxiety related to this and to ease away the symptoms that occur normally. The clitoris is the small organ that has innumerable nerve endings. There is the urethral opening which permits the passage of urine.  Then there is the vestibule which is the area around the vagina and the perineum which is the region between the anus and the vagina.

Vulval conditions are normally skin complaints or chronic pain or infections or else cancerous conditions. the vulval intraepithelial neoplasia, is actually a pre cancerous condition of the vulval region. The cells here that are affected multiply fast and erroneously and they remain benign or non cancerous for a long time. The vulval cancer is normally classified according to the cell from which it took birth. The cells could be squamous cell carcinoma which originates in the cells of the skin.

Melanoma originates in the pigment cells which lie deeper in the skin. This is the reason for around 5% of the cases. Then there is Adenocarcinoma which originates in the Bartholin’s glands and has very lubricant structures. This is the one that accounts for around 1% of the cases. Then there is the rare sarcoma which comes from the cells and is a rare occurrence. Lymphoma is something that originates from the rare cells and comes from the immune cells. Then you have basal cell carcinoma which is another form of skin cancer. This is also a rare type.

There are various ways that the vulval cancer can be diagnosed with a number of tests which include examining the medical history, then a physical examination and then swab tests to check for any possible infections. Biopsy is another way of examining the presence of vulval cancer.

All the factors discussed above reflect the impact of anxiety on vulval cancer which is said to be great and quite strong. There have been a lot of correlations made between vulval cancer and the related anxiety that a woman goes through. Depending on the type of cancer, anxiety only adds on to the condition. Thus it is very important that the patient is well aware of the reasons why vulval cancer is caused and the types of vulval cancer to be a little on secure grounds as regards the course of action being taken. Again the fact that the vulval cancer is also subjected to a lot of tests and procedures, makes it imperative for the women to be aware about the methods of detecting this kind of condition.
