Cancer of the bones is a serious disease that a large number of individuals end up facing each year. It is also a form of cancer that does not have a specific list of warning signs that all patients that have this type of disease will experience. Just as one person is different from the next person, bone cancer symptoms can vary from one person to the next. Some of the most common warning signs and symptoms that a large number of patients may experience when their physician has diagnosed them with cancer of the bones would include the following.

  • A large amount of pain and discomfort is the symptom that is most often experienced in patients that have this type of disease.
  • Some individuals with this disease will notice a lump or mass that is often felt in the muscle tissues that surround the bone, and in some cases the mass may be noticed on the bone itself. Generally this is a symptom that is experienced with patients who have fibrosarcoma or MFH, but it is a symptom that can also occur with other types of bone cancer.
  • In some cases the tumor will weaken the patient’s bones and can ultimately cause them to suffer from fractures of the bone just by putting weight on it, or by experiencing very little trauma.

Generally bone cancer symptoms will increase more and more in the severity that the patient experiences, as time goes on. When a person is first diagnosed with cancer of the bones, and depending on how much the tumor has grown, they may only experience discomfort and pain while they are engaging in physical activities or at night while they are in bed.  Depending on how much the tumor has grown, the individual may notice various types of bone cancer symptoms that can last for several weeks, they may last for several months, or they may even last for several years before the individual makes the decision that they should consult the opinion of a family health care professional.
