Childhood Cancer and Related Problems
The cells in the body are tightly regulated and are dependent on the interaction with cells, growth and also life span. Cancer is said to occur when a particular type of cell has no control over the growth and the mechanisms are such that the body is unable to regulate. There are many kinds of cancer that show different signs and also treatments alongwith related symptoms and also outcomes. The type of cell involved and the way the cell grows in an uncontrolled manner is important and this is what creates cancer. So cancer is of various types Childhood cancer has a common disease process just like the other cancer growths. The cells grow out of control and also develop many shapes and sizes. Since long, pap tests have been the first way a woman could defend herself from cervical cancer. Today we have newer technologies and like the HPV vaccine and the HPV tests which contribute towards making the incidence of cervical cancer lesser, the HPV related diseases are thus under control and provide a means to understanding the way cervical cancer is caused and the related effects it has. The newer type of technologies have the capacity to save around 4000 women in the United States of America and thus the number of women who die due to cervical cancer every year is much lesser. The Human Papillomavirus or the HPV is the main virus that causes nearly the main percentage of the rate of cervical cancer. Actually we can protect ourselves from the disease if we know what exactly to do with  [...]

Blood Cancer Awareness
Blood Cancer Awareness
Blood cancer is a condition that occurs without any warning. It is important that one is at least aware of the condition, and it requires that people should do something about spreading the awareness of the disease. Blood cancer is made up of many kinds of cancer. These are the cancers of the blood stream. The condition of blood cancer starts due to mutation of a singe cell. This then multiplies into a number of mutated cells. The most familiar form of blood cancer is leukemia. In this condition there is a wide growth of the white blood cells. These white blood cells accumulate within the body and they settle in the bone marrow or inside the bone. These white blood cell accumulations directly affect the normal way the cells would function. Thus they impediment the production of the red blood  [...]

Featured Clinical Trials for Cancer
Featured Clinical Trials for Cancer
Cancer is a condition that spreads without warning. There are various options to fight cancer. There are experienced oncologists who have regular clinical trials to help towards the advanced research in the care of cancer patients. With the help of such featured clinical trials newer ways of diagnosing, preventing and treating many types of cancer could be evaluated. Patients are normally given the chance to take part in such clinical trials. These studies thus give a lot of access to the effective treatments that are a part of such research and help in improving the medical care for all the patients in future. There are a wide range of such clinical trials for cancer and most of the oncologists conduct these trials in their own areas. They test new medicines and other modes of cancer treatment  [...]

News on Brain Cancer
News on Brain Cancer
Brain cancer is a subject of research today and there is lot of news regarding this condition. Many researchers have ensured that they have delved into the matter well and also given a lot of revelations. Let us learn what the gene encodings of this growth are and how it affects the individual. Gene encoding is a way of finding the reasons of cell growth in the brains and is a base for determining the genetic effect on brain cells. It is said that the gene encoding a protein called p14 ARF is there inside the cell to control division and proliferation. It has also been found out that p14 ARF regulates the process angiogenesis which is the process by which the cancers that grow within attract new blood vessels. Thus the latest in the news is that there are insights as to how the cancers form  [...]

Bone Cancer and Osteoporosis
Bone Cancer and Osteoporosis
Cancer is a condition that can affect any part of the body. This is one disease which is really difficult to locate and does not have a specific kind of treatment. Bone cancer is also called bone metastatis. Patients are often found to have a lot of bone loss and bone deterioration. The patients often find that treating this condition is akin treating the cancerous condition. Patients who do not have their cancer metasizing or people who find that the cancer does not go into remission do not have cancer osteoporosis or osteopenic. They have never actually realized that the bone loss is sometimes due to the side affects of the treatment. Ataxia Telangiectasia – Overview
Ataxia Telangiectasia – Overview
What is Ataxia Telangiectasia? Ataxia Telangiectasia is a disease that is caused due to the defects in the gene called ataxia telangiectasia. Any defect in this gene leads to death in an abnormal manner. The death could be in various parts of the body also and it also includes the brain getting affected thus disabilitating movement. It has been seen that this condition affects both boys and girls. It is usually diagnosed with the help of a main test in the laboratory which is used to diagnose Ataxia Telangiectasia. The test measures the fetal proteins or the serum alpha fetoprotein in the blood. The fetal proteins are normally developed when the fetus develops but some times they develop at greater levels. When this happens the fetus is afflicted with the Ataxia Telangiectasia and it is seen  [...]

Vulval Cancer and Genetics
Vulval Cancer and Genetics
Vulval and cervical cancer, are the major deterrents in the progress of health conditions in a female. Factors such as smoking and alcohol result and aggravate the cancerous condition. Cigarette smoking is a contributor to the human papillomavirus or the HPV in the progressive growth of the vulvar squamous cell carcinoma or the SCC. This has a great influence on the generation of vulval cancer. The genetic variation in the interleukin 2 or the IL2 is related to the effect that smoking has on the anogenital cancers. Studies have been conducted to measure the deviation from the multiplicative joint effect of cigarette smoking and the variation of the IL2 on the cervical and the vulval squamous cell carcinoma. A genotyping of the four IL2 tags were done in around 399 cervical and 486 vulvar squamous  [...]

Vulvar Cancer Appearance and Risk Factors
Vulvar Cancer Appearance and Risk Factors
Today vulvar cancer is a very uncommon malignancy which is responsible for at least 5% of the gynecologic neoplasms. The incidence of this disease is increasing. This type of cancer is mainly found in women after they have crossed the age of 50. The normal incidences are heightened in between the ages of 65 to 70. There are studies that show that there is a connection between genital warts and vulvar cancer,  smoking and pap smear. There is a virus called the human pappillomavrius or the HPV which is seen in the molecular analysis of the vulvar neoplasias. These studies reveal that there is a connection between vulvar cancer and the papillomavirus. It is seen that vulvar cancer is preceded by vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia. But there is a condition called lichen sclerosis which is not malignant  [...]

Vulval cancer survival rate
Vulval cancer survival rate
It is often seen that vulval cancer has a certain pattern of survival rate. Those patients, who have been diagnosed with vulval cancer in the early half of the 20th century, normally died of the disease. The survival rate for the vulvular cancer even after surgical excision was not more than 25%. There were various attempts that were made to improve the progress of the patients diagnosed with vulval cancer. Radical surgery was first mentioned by Basset in the year 1912. Then we found a method of using an en boc dissection radical vulvectomy. This was done with an inguinal pelvic lymphadenectomy. This method actually was a little successful and showed a chance of the patients surviving for five years. This actually had a survival rate of 74% . So this success rate was preferred by many doctors  [...]
