More often than not, an individual will not begin to notice any of the symptoms of thyroid cancer until the disease has reached an more advanced stage of its development. It is also important to keep in mind that just because you may be experiencing some of the warning signs of this type of disease, it does not mean that you in fact have acquired thyroid cancer. There is a wide variety of several different types of health problems and conditions that also have some of the very same symptoms as is experienced with this form of cancer.

- Neck sensitivity is one of the common symptoms of thyroid cancer that may cause garments like scarves, turtlenecks, necklaces, and neckties to be very uncomfortable.
- Individuals will often feel as if they are choking and they will have problems swallowing.
- A sign of the disease in its aggressive stages are nodules in the neck that feel as if the whole thyroid is moving when it is manipulated.
- One side of the thyroid appearing normal and the other side having a large nodule, which is also referred to as asymmetry of the thyroid.
